Description:
The Hawaii Potters’ Guild is excited to offer a 3-day participatory workshop taught by Kazuya Ishida. Kaz is from Bizen in Okayama Prefecture, home to one of Japan’s six “ancient kilns.” Famous for his stunning spiral vessels, Kaz gathers and processes his own clay, which he fires in the Bizen tradition using noborigama and anagama kilns. Kaz’s work has received numerous awards and is exhibited throughout Japan as well as internationally. Kaz will demonstrate and provide hands-on instruction to participants primarily in wheel techniques. This workshop is geared towards intermediate and advanced wheel-throwers.

Workshop participants should bring their own throwing tools
All clay (50 lbs.) and slip will be included in the tuition. No outside clay is allowed.
