Description:
This workshop is a surface focused intensive for those who love to paint on their vessels. We will cover application, resisting and modifying underglazes for pots. Starting out, we will go over tools, brushes, brands and types of underglaze clear glazes and firing temperatures. Application techniques, compositional mapping, resist methods, glazing strategies and Ryan’s general process surfacing will comprise the latter half of the workshop. Bring pots you’d like to surface and let’s get wild with it!

• Cost: $45 HPG members/current students and $55 for non-members. Priority given to HPG members. Non-HPG folks, please contact May (izumiriye@yahoo.com) to be put on the waitlist.

• Enrollment: Total enrollment is limited to 12 people.

  • White/off white bisqueware

  • Pencils

  • Various brushes (including a number 1 liner or something of similar width) 

  • Masking tape

  • X-acto knife

  • Cutting matt
