Description:
This workshop will take place every other Saturday night and will be firing only. You will make your pieces outside of this class and are expected to bring bisque pieces to each session. You will receive one bag of soldate with this class as the emphasis in on firing, not making pieces.
Barbara Guidage is the ceramics instructor at Mauka Ali’i soldate program. She has been doing raku since the 1980s and was a member of Jeff Chang’s Kama`aina Potters team when he was still coming out to Raku Ho’olaule’a. She is a handbuilder as well as a wheel thrower.
In this workshop you will learn how to get the results you want from the raku glazes.
Additional Information:
Cost: $138 for members, $150.50 for non-members that are current HPG students. You must either be a member or currently enrolled at HPG to take this workshop.
Enrollment: Total enrollment is limited to 15 people. Workshop will only run if we have 10 registrants.
Supplies Provided: Workshop fee includes 1 bag of soldate
Supplies to Bring: Bring at least one bisqued soldate piece to each class. It must be glazed with raku glazes at least a day (24 hours) before the firing.
Attire: Long pants and a cotton shirt (no poly); Closed toe shoes; Have your hair tied back; A face shield is highly recommended
